A week of Community Music workshops just ended for the team of Prima Materia in Lebanon, with the support of Taawon – Welfare Organisation.

The team spent three days in the refugee camp of Beddawi (Tripoli, in the north of Lebanon) and three days in Sidon (south Lebanon) to start an intensive preparation of the forthcoming summer camp in June.

  • 4 operators from PM were involved in the workshops teaching violin, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, oud, piano and brass instruments and one coordinator.

  • A total of 65 children took part in the activities in the two centres.

  • Teachers, operators and coordinators of the local partner Assomoud were also actively involved in the workshop and planning of the summer activities.

The presence of the older students was greatly useful to support the work of the Italian teachers by translating, helping the new students and easing the logistics.

Future steps include the preparation of the arrangements for the final concert, which will be held on 30th June in Tripoli and the definition of the place for the summer camp, to host 40 people among students and staff members for one week.
